I saw this using a voucher on Monday and was pleasantly surprised as I really enjoyed the film. I loved the idea of everyone finding their place in society but really appreciated the meaning of each of the groups and could see how human nature in extreme could lead to the 5 groups: Abnegation, Erudite, Dauntless, Amity, and Candor. I did however feel a great empathy for the Factionless . . . in many ways this group exists in our society already with those on benefit of any kind! The media and some politicians have created a division in society so that we often view others misfortunes as meaning they are failures and have nothing to offer to society. It is too easy for us to point the finger at THEM . . .just as the Factionless were viewed in the film.
It was a long film but I was never bored and in some ways, I preferred this to the Hunger Games which I also enjoyed. Looking forward to the next film!
Marks 8.5/10
ps I'm absolutely not in the demographic group this film is aimed at! _0^

Not seen this yet, but just wanted to say that I think it's a really bad idea to split the last book into 2 films. It's the weakest book by a long way, and while it does its best to explain why the system is so bizarre and illogical it's a convoluted story and it doesn't really seem like one that would work split into two.

Saw this last weekend and thought it was solid, didn't think it was quite as strong as 'The Hunger Games' but as it was a definite improvement over 'The Mortal Instruments' I think 7/10 feels like a fair & appropriate score...

My review is attached, but while I really enjoyed the character of Tris, I thought the movie was a bit rambling and uncompelling.

Another film I'm finally getting the chance to review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this...much more than expected.
Thought the story was great, lots of action and great cast...gave The Hunger Games competition.

Looking forward to the next instalment.

8.5/10 from me.

Watched this today and really enjoyed it.

Not sure about the basic premise, but overlooking that it was exciting and gripping 8/10

Saw this again this morning at a Sun+ screening at Odeon Holloway, thanks to elski. It was lovely to meet missgotty finally. There was only one family of two adults and two children and another couple to join me, OH and missgotty for this screening. The family, however, made so much noise with their food wrappings that I eventually had to shush them half way into the film. The little boy did turn round and thankfully they did heed me and did quieten down for the rest of the film.

This is even better on a second viewing. Although since seeing it about 8 months ago, and looking at my previous review, surprised that I could not remember much about it except the running for and jumping from the trains! So it was great to see it again, and I gasped at the same point. The initiation process seems much better and did not drag on as I recorded last time. I am sure there were things I missed last time too. Shailene Woodley is definitely Tris. She is so good. And still love Theo James as Four. I have to upped my score to 10/10

I was very impressed that the author wrote this when she was only 20 years old! I also really loved the music. And Theo James is hot, loved his voice too! 9/10
