Went to see this at the Silverlink with family in tow this morning. Kids were complaining like crazy when I woke them up at 9.00 so we could all get ready in good time to set off to see this.

Tickets said 10:00 for 10:30 but the cinema didn’t even open its doors until 10:30. Fortunately everyone managed to get inside and be seated by 10:35 and were sat waiting.

At 10:40 I thought I bet they aren’t going to start this until 11:00 and so with the kids whingeing on accusingly at me about “what was the point in getting up so early for this, Dad”, I decided to leave the screen and go and speak to an Odeon staff member.

“This film was supposed to start at 10:30” says I. “Its 11:00 on our schedule” Odeon bod says. “Look at the tickets” I says. “Oh Yeah” he says – “I’ll get on the radio to the projectionists and see if I can set it away now then”.

“Good idea” I says “its not like there’s anyone else coming now, and were all sitting there like idiots, and you’ve already kept us standing outside the cinema for 30 mins after the time you asked us to arrive at.”

I went back in the screen – the lights went down and then ………..nothing.

An usherette walked in with a tray with eight bags of crisps on it. She walked right up to the back corner of the screening room stood there for literally 20 seconds sold two bags of crisps to a kid – then immediately walked back down to the front and out of the screening room. Bizarre!

We waited for another 15 mins in the dark.

The film started at 11:00!

I would be lying if I said I enjoyed it. It was (as someone else commented earlier in these threads) like a poor Harry Potter movie but without any of the tension or character development. The attempts at humour largely fell flat and I felt no sympathy whatsoever to any of the characters. In the end I didn’t care whether they lived or died.

I thought Nicolas Cage was rubbish in this and the Jay Barochel and girlfriend thread left me cold too – The Alfred Molina Character reminded me of the guy from the MoneySupermarket dot com car insurance advert things. And I suddenly felt that all the films that I’d seen recently had all had the same people in them and were all the same stories when you got right down to it.

I asked to speak to the manager on the way out for a chat about the delayed screening start – after 10 mins a 12 year old team leader came up and said that the manager was far too busy to see me and that the delay wasn’t their fault, and no they weren’t going to do anything like apologise etc etc. So basically just “p*** off” would you.

Lovely customer service!

And the blooming icing on the cake?………

In the Great “Should I dump Airbender to see Sorcerer or dump Sorcerer to see Airbender” debate, it seems that I made the wrong choice.

It pains me to think that Spanner actually enjoyed Airbender more than I liked this – I won’t be telling her that though obviously!

So its 9.5 out of 10 from me for this one.

Huge thanks to whoever posted the disney code

Saw this today at Ocean Terminal and really enjoyed it.

One of Nicholas Cages better films of late and seemed to be enjoyed by all who were there.

Yes, kept thinking I had seen lots of the stars before and found this a bit distracting as was trying to think of what I had seen them in.

Would happily watch this one again too. Last three films, A Team Knight nd Day all been good .

Went to see this today at Liverpool Switch Island, screening was 75% full, not bad for 10.30am on a Sunday. Son (16) and his 2 friends (16,13)decided that they would tag along too, instead of going to see The Last Airbender. Although I think that decision may have had something more to do with how early they had to get up and whether they could get a lift!

We really enjoyed this film, the plot was easy to follow and all thought that Jay Baruchel was well suited to the role of the apprentice, the geeky, awkward way he portrayed 'Dave' really helped to make you care about the character. We did get a bit distracted talking about what films we had seem him in recently though.

Also loved Nicholas Cages performance as Balthazar. Haven't been a huge fan of his previously but thought he did a decent job in this film.

Overall a good film, would watch it again.

A 9/10 from us.

I thought this film was great, so did my son 7 & daughter 6 and their grandmother who came with us, it had us all on the edge of our seats. I would recommend it and would of been happy to p*y for this unlike some of the other films I have seen lately!!

The screening was at least 90% full and started on time so were fortunate to not have any of the problems some others had.
Preferred Cinema's now Paignton or Exeter!

I went to see this without watching the trailer or reading the synopsis (I'm doing this more and more recently) and I really didn't think it would be my cup of tea....

I was very wrong, some in out little group said that it has dragged and was nothing special, but I found that I personally really enjoyed it...

It seemed easy to follow and didn't get two bogged down in all of the magic stuff, it wasn't trying to explain every last spell to you and confusing you with lots of non-english spell names and similar. Brilliant for kids and OK for adults accompanying them I would guess.

8.5/10 from me!

I quite enjoyed this though it was a bit lacking in some areas - good Sunday afternoon family movie.

Compared to how he looked in the movie (pretty good I thought), Nicholas Cage looks rough as a badgers a$$ in this recent press shot:
