Re: Back to the Future
I was there tonight. A fantastic screening, brought back some good memories. My friend hadn't even seen it! He was amazed!
Go ahead, make my day - by visiting my blog: http://jacobthehobnob.wordpress.com/
Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2012" club. I saw 32, which is rather delightful.. I beat Mr. Glass on free films but he narrowly inched me out on total films seen.
Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2011" club. I saw 20, interestingly enough. My more realistic target was to see more free films than TheyCallMeMrGlass. I lost.

Has ha, well the film is 11 years older than you and presumably your friend!
I was your age when the film came out. Now that makes me feel old.

Re: Back to the Future
Hey Weirdfilm, glad you enjoyed it, I almost nearly failed you in getting you in! Thank god it worked out.
Beate, was good to see you but sorry for my rush as it was weirdfilm that I had to go back out for, lol. And for some reason I though you were in the know about him. Oh and I made sure I now have your number stored with your name...sheesh sorry for the confusion. a_person you were fantastic to make sure weirdfilm got there.
Well I took my mother on this screening as it was 25 years ago when my mum took me to this very same screen when Empire was in its prime glory, equipped with pre-film laser light show. It was now my turn to take her to what is her absolute favourite film, she has probably seen it over 50 times. Its also one of my favourites too.
10/10 lol of course!
And what an atmosphere, its clear that much of the audience have a deep love for this classic. The print was stunning and sharp, the colours so vibrant. Great tribute to this all time great classic. It was somehow overwhelmingly nostalgic to see Marty, Doc, Lorraine and George back on the big screen. And boy does this movie still feel fresh. Yes the mood of the 80s flooded my mind like a tsunami but nevertheless, the energy, comedy and edge of the seat thrills still make this a timeless classic that I can never tire of watching in another 100 years if I live that long.
My mother wanted to b*y me an ice cream for old time sake but I thought no, let me make this a full turn around and I went I got her a Ben & Jerrys which she thoroughly enjoyed. She really enjoying herself tonight. Thank you a_person and Andrews for making her night, I'm very grateful!

Re: Back to the Future
I must say I don't think much of Back to the Future II but III in the Wild West picked up again. The first one is still the best though.

Re: Back to the Future
when you think about the fluidity of the movie, and the decent family films of this year (Alice in Wonderland et all), the difference in the quality of the filming process, the interplay between characters, the director's work in tweaking every character, the script that matches the characters in the movie perfectly, a fantastic soundtrack, and action sequences that look very real and are cut to perfection .....Alice in Wonderland is a good well made flick, but nowhere near the fluid flow of the first McFly movie.
i do believe we have been dumbing down movies recently, someone once said that on this forum not so long ago.

Re: Back to the Future
Indeed Raj, I have to quote the old cliche but so true:
They dont make 'em like they used to! Even the same directors and producers cannot make em like they used to. As they all get older they may mature and become technically better film makers but somehow, along the way they lose that youthful energy, the risk taking. Thats not to say Spielberg, Zemeckis, Scorsese, Coppola, Lucas, Tarantino etc can never make a great film again, they still do but they can never match their earlier classics even if technically, their newer films are better. I think its just the nature of it, it will always be that way.
