I thought it was Jake for a split second with that beard. Now, he is an actor I would much prefer - Jake looks a lot more fun too.

Saw this after our day of pampering and our meet and greet with Zac - the beard is not doing anything for me and my daughter didn't particulaly like it either.

Okay - the good points: Zac does show that he has somewhat matured as an actor but there were still too many shots of him looking dreamily into the distant. Hey guys this is not acting....; Charlie Tahan as the young borther was quite sweet; Augustus Prew as Alistair was amusing; the film is watchable.

Bad points: the film loses the sensitivity of the book somewhat and is quite watered down for want of a better phrase being at times it seems quite insepid; Amanda Crew as Tess is quite bland and does bring any real warmth to the character.

T4 pushed this as a film where you will cry with Zac, love with Zac, live with Zac but this is definitely not the case unless you are a 12 year old girl and by the time you are a 14 year old girl you are so passed this.

Thanks Destresserai. You expressed exactly what I thought and failed to expressed, the only words that came to my mind was "boring and slow!" :P I had not read the book, so could not make a comparison either.

hey, where were you sitting? There were a whole group that came in at the last minute, with faces painted and sat in the very front row in the middle. Were you one of them?

We most certainly were! I will try to upload a pic of my daughter's make-up. She got quite a few comments about it with Zac saying to her "I love your face" and Augustus Prew saying her make-up was "cute". As a 14 year old trying to be 30 I think she would have preferred more chic comments but she can now live with the fact that Zac noticed her and did not make just the generic "thank-you for coming out tonight!

Awesome, front row seats! Pxc, my OH and I were in the front row also, although offset to the left side of the screen. Your face makeup all rocked :D We all watched Zac giving you guys some special treatment on the big screen near the entrance to the Empire in your private enclosure. Very well done!
