I never got this email (and never saw this thread until now) so was making my way to Edinburgh. Unfortunately a 3 hour journey back from Dundee put pa*d to that idea. SFF still sent me a feedback request despite not bothering to tell me that it had been cancelled in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Maybe they showed it anyway?biggins wrote:Yes I got the email so that is another film cancelled but the stupid thing is that at the same time as sending me this email they also sent one reminding me I had tickets for tonight!!!elski wrote:just got this email
Due to extreme weather conditions, distributors have been unable to get the Print of Love and Other Drugs to Glasgow or Edinburgh for the Galaxy Radio Previews TOMORROW, Tuesday 7th December.
We do apologise for any inconvenience but the cancellation is due to matters beyond our control.
We will however, send you an early alert for the next Galaxy Preview in your area.
Best wishes
Showfilmfirst (for Galaxy Radio)
seems they have sent it to everyone
Still haven't had a reply from SSF to find out if this Saturday's Narnia screening is definately on after they said they had cancelled last Saturday but showed it to those - like havingascreen - who turned up!!!!

Re: Love and Other Drugs
I've just noticed on the feedback form for last night's Next 3 Days the first question is reasons why you couldn't make it, including bad weather & xmas party as options.

But who would think to complete one if they hadn't gone? It wouldn't occur to me even to open the link.

Re: Love and Other Drugs
I agree, I don't click on the ones I haven't been to as I've cancelled beforehand anyway.
edit: just went to the deleted Love and other drugs feedback and it doesn't have those options.

Re: Love and Other Drugs
I was at Shaftesbury Avenue last night as well. I went on my own, and enjoyed a bag of Tesco cookies and a bottle of cherry coke!
I enjoyed reading the other reviews for this, though I think I enjoyed this a lot more than many people. I wouldn't actually describe this as a rom com. It did have some funny bits though, most of my laughs came from the brother.
I'm usually quite a prude, but I actually thought it was appropriate to see the nudity and the sex astot was all about watching a relationship develop. Both of them are attractive so there's something nice to look at for everybody!
I thought it was a really well acted film, and I did care about both of the characters.
8/10

Re: Love and Other Drugs
There was a lot more depth to this film that I was expecting - I enjoyed it a lot and would definitely recommend it to people.

Re: Love and Other Drugs
I was not sure whether this was trying to be a film about business ethics (like Thank you for Smoking, which I loved...), a comedy/rom com, a biography, a drama or even a sales training film. I could see good things in parts of this, but it did not really gel for me. Was not that unhappy with all the nudity, but did not feel there was enough depth to the characters. Can someone change as quickly as Jamie did? Was there no one in the background to help Maggie?
Music was quite good though - although I saw Vonda Sheperd's name on the credits but cannot see this on IMDB.
BTW - I was in staying/working in the same location as the launch party for the scientists working on developing Viagra. The ONLY woman researcher at the party left it )because she was unhappy being there), and joined us (genial media crowd, who had had a bit too much wine). Initially she was reluctant to say who she worked for, etc., but gave us the whole story of what was going on at that party. One of our group had to call security during the evening after someone tried to use an axe to enter her bedroom - never did get that full story.

Re: Love and Other Drugs
Forgot to say that the Leeds Light was way over-booked. Several people came in (with popcorn etc.) only to find that there were no seats. Even after the first few left, others were allowed in. Until about 10-15 minutes into the film.

Re: Love and Other Drugs
Should have read your review before going yesterday to Picadilly Circus to watch this. I was bored, and just wanted to go home, especially at the end during the overly sentimental scenes. My bf seemed to like it, apparently because it was related to the pharmaceutical company Pfizer (he wouldn't mind working there in R&D). 5.5/10soonforgotten wrote:It's an entertaining flick and if you want to see a lot of tits and sex scenes, this is for you. If that's not worth sitting through an overly sentimental, typically sugary Hollywood romcom for you, it is probably a good idea to take a pass on this one. You won't be missing much, save for Anne Hathaway's tits.
BTW, I'm guessing Budweiser must have sponsored this movie. I lost count of how often Budweiser bottles appeared on screen!

Re: Love and Other Drugs
Saw it at Romford last night, was surround by rather loud individuals sadly, but the film had some high and low points. It was mostly funny, and Hathaway and Gyllenhaal were great. Josh Gad, Hank Azaria, Judy Greer and Oliver Platt offered excellent support and Zwick did a good job with the film, except for the issue of 2 plots running into one another over the film's duration, tonally dissimilar and never fitting together, meaning sometimes it was a romance, sometimes a comic drama, but never a fully realised piece.
But some good stuff in there, better than a bunch of films this year. 6/10
