Re: Blue Valentine
Was that why everyone was late, they had to win their tickets on twitter first?
We were the first ones in at Greenwich Picturehouse and discovered that they had moved the screening to the bigger screen 3. Didn't quite see the wisdom in this at first as we were the only people for at least 10 minutes but then people began to stream in and it became really full, with latecomers arriving until 11.20am, which really isn't on in my opinion.
I wish I had seen Tangled again instead of this. It was boring and confusing in equal measures. I really don't mind indie films if they have a story to tell but this was just two people who fell in love, married, had a kid, then split up. The story was told in lots of flashbacks in no particular order (I got really confused at one point), and there was no clear reason why the woman fell out of love with the guy. He was a decent bloke who loved her and the little girl even though we weren't sure it was even his. Quite sad and also pointless. The story often felt like a documentary, like they had just held a camera on some real people and let them get on with it, which would have been fine if it had been in any way interesting. Instead we got awkward love scenes, an ugly shouting scene at her work place and the most offensive joke I have heard in a while. Unfortunately OH sat quiet like a mouse and it only transpired afterwards he was ready to walk out - I would have happily joined him!

Re: Blue Valentine
I saw this at the Cameo in Edinburgh this morning. About 85% full.
It was a confusing film in that it went round and round and back again but didn't really do anything.
It showed in flashback how they met and as they were current day but left out to me the most crucial bit in how they got to where they currently were.
I felt for the husband, and felt very little for the wife and taht seemed to be the kid's take on things too.
It was superbly acted as the performances were outstanding, I just thought the script needed a thorough review!

Re: Blue Valentine
Saw this in Cameo this morning too. Very cold and draughty were we were sitting.
Like Alythonian thought very well acted. My sympathy was with the husband who seemed to have been a really nice guy. Would have liked to see what went wrong. Her father did not seem to have been very nice so perhaps she had all sorts of hang ups about men?
Too many flashbacks for me and no real point to it all, but liked the music and happy as a chap won a cd at the cinema.
Fraid 5/10 from me too
