Interesting to read everyone's opinions on this. I'm one of the few who enjoyed it, i think i read somewhere on here that it's an "indie romance with some aliens". So i went in expecting that and that's what i got.

Shot really well, i thought the effects on the mexican towns were really believable (i've travelled across central america on a shanty bus and it looked very similar minus the tanks) so i loved the reality about the film. Wasn't totally convinced by the female lead but Scoot McNairy was great as usual.

I think the ending was a bit meh but overall a 7/10.

Just seen this using an Odeon voucher in a freezing Trafford Centre (heating was broke, we were offered a refund if we had wanted)

I'd heard great things, but left slightly unsatisfied. I knew not to expect Godzilla, and I enjoyed the central romance, and liked the subtle metaphor for Americas foreign policy, but I still wanted more Monsters.

Having said that it's an astonishing achievement, and I'd be happy to watch it again now
my expectations have been managed and I'm not expecting a creature to jump out any moment.

Go in expecting a full on creature feature and it will let you down, it's more like an indie road movie romance with dash of politics and a sprinkling of 100ft aliens!

Does anyone know what's happening with the Monsters event @ The Royal College of Surgeons on March 3rd?

The tickets say 7pm, however the homepage of FMUK says all day? Is there some sort of all day event, or something we can go in and out of, maybe something to do with the Hunterian Museum?

It does what it says on the tin... queue early, doors open at 7 and not before. I'm sure there are other things to "go in and out of" in the meantime though... ;)

So I'm not the only one who gets truly annoyed with this.

Well that was fun... waiting in the freezing cold to get in to the Jameson's screening! At least we managed to get in, I'm sure there would have been a lot of people turned away.

They actually had 2 screenings! I can't remember the last time I was so cold. It was absolutely brass monekys out there. still once 7pm came we all got in pretty quickly, no one took our tickets at all. Once in we were stood in a queue but were told there was no need and to go to the bar. Later we found out the queue was for the lucky people with smart phones who got goodie bags, DVD's were in them apparently.

Anyway Gareth Edwards, a guy from Empire and the Editor came out about 8pm for a quick chat and q&a. Gareth is a little sweetheart and looks so young. I enjoyed the chat and the fact he wouldn't talk about Godzilla which is his next project. Hmmm is he going to be offered monster movies for the rest of his career?

I won't talk about the film as I'd seen it before, only to say I'm amazed at what you can achieve on a shoestring, with a bit of know how.
After the film we were all allowed to roam around the museum at will. NO security or anyone telling us what to do, strangely enough. It was an amazing place but I started to feel a bit ill looking at the exhibits, and after a while we ended up back at the bar. Gareth and the Editor were still there and pretty hammered, but were chatting to everyone and it was a really relaxed cool vibe and some good music being played.
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

I did not manage to get in unforunately, arrived too late :( was given a coupon for a free drink at a nearby bar which i didnt use. Anyway I was wondering if Scoot McNairy and Whitney Able were there as well because it seemed like I met their doubles when the guy (who mentioned that he's a journalist) wanted to take a photo of us. Their resemblance didnt occur to me until after especially with their outfit.
